Join us on this two-day event where we will explore the root causes of health inequities in Hawai‘i, navigating historical contexts and economic landscapes that shape our present and future.

Conference Format:
Aligned with our theme, each morning will kick off with Real Talk sessions featuring local and national experts, followed by reactionary panels with health and social service leaders. The spotlight then shifts to Real Stories, which will consist of a storytelling session that highlights the challenges of navigating the healthcare system and the economic realities faced by Hawai‘i communities today. Afternoons will be dedicated to Real Solutions, showcasing innovative approaches to advance equity within communities. Each day concludes with a panel of prominent healthcare leaders reflecting and reacting to the stories discussed around the “isms,” aiming to channel collective energy into actionable strategies.

Systems of Oppression and Hawai‘i Historical Context
Uncover the roots of inequities in Hawai‘i today by delving into the historical context and systemic oppressions that persist. Day 1 is dedicated to understanding and addressing the "isms" – Racism, Sexism, Colonialism – that pose barriers to achieving health equity in Hawai‘i. Breakout sessions will focus on uplifting innovative solutions and stories highlighting the strength, resilience, and resourcefulness of Hawaii’s communities.

Economic Realities of Hawai‘i and Healthcare
Embark on a thought-provoking exploration of the economic landscapes shaping Hawai‘i's future. Day 2 is dedicated to unraveling the impact of 'isms' like Capitalism, Imperialism, and Tourism on health equity. Learn more about the systemic factors impacting our ability to achieve health equity and celebrate communities and organizations who advocate for a thriving future in Hawai‘i. Honoring the rich experiences within the audience, attendees will be invited to share their insights and potential solutions throughout the conference.

Our 2023 Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Needs Assessment sparked meaningful conversations among our team about the pressing concerns that resonate within our communities and across the state.
